JJ Lin: I'm no ladies' man

A ladies' man?

Definitely not me, says JJ Lin.

The boyish-looking local singer, who will be 31 in less than two weeks, firmly disassociated himself from the Casanova image he has inadvertently built for himself.

Back in town yesterday to promote his latest album of Mandopop originals, Lost N Found, Lin told The New Paper in a roundtable interview that he has had "only two serious romantic relationships" in his entire life.

"Both relationships were not with celebrities," he said emphatically.

"I'm not a ladies' man at all...I can't be one, the stakes are too high!

"Though I'm worried about (gaining such a reputation), it can't be helped...I don't want to overturn my lifestyle and stop hanging out with my female friends."

Lin's revelation runs counter to the Taiwanese media's portrayal of him as a swinging bachelor with a penchant for changing girlfriends.

Last year alone, there were three women linked - almost consecutively - to him.

The first was bosomy model-host Lilian Chen, 29, a small-time celebrity who is better known by the crude nickname E Cup Sister.

She was often spotted by the paparazzi entering Lin's apartment, sparking speculation that the pair had cohabited at some point.

They reportedly called it quits last March.

In the same month, Lin raised eyebrows once again, this time with singer-actress Linda Liao.

He had boldly nuzzled Liao's body during a performance onstage and, at a post-concert party, both had no qualms locking lips for the cameras.

Liao, 30, clarified in an earlier interview with TNP that the kisses with Lin were "nothing but an act".

Last July, showbiz headlines in Taiwan started screaming "JJ ditches boobs for brains", a reference to Lin's movie dates with 25-year-old entertainment talk show host, Weng Tzy Mann.

"That really isn't anything at all," was all Lin would say, when quizzed about his reported courtship of Weng.

He declined to reveal details about the two previous relationships he considered legitimate, but said he has "learnt to be more careful" from his failed romances.

"I used to be very impulsive when it came to love," said Lin, who is also the boss of his own music production company, JFJ Productions, and a streetwear label, Smudge.
